Health Child

Health Child was started in 2006 by three people who came together to contribute towards children and women wellbeing after working with communities in micro-finance companies. One on the founders noticed that women who dominate the micro finance industry failed to make their weekly loan payments due to challenges related to child illness and challenges that affected the women themselves usually related to pregnancy and child birth. Health Child has since grown and has implemented projects in all regions of Uganda and further expanded its programs from maternal and child health to prevention of violence against children, education, income and livelihood support and further addressing cross-cutting issues of male involvement and ICT. Health Child uses multiple approaches to ensure that organisation objectives are achieved in a sustainable, practical way: facilitators, international partners, collaboration and community strengthening.
